This patient had gradually lost his upper right back teeth and upper left molars to gum disease over many years. As a result he was unable eat properly and the front teeth were subjected to more force and wear.
The patient underwent treatment with Mark Taylor and our hygienist to treat his gum disease and with time this was brought under control and the gums were returned to health.
The patient was then referred to James Jenkins for the replacement of the missing teeth with dental implants. 2 Straumann dental implants were placed on the upper right side on which a 3 unit bridge was placed.
A single implant was placed on the upper left side to replace the first molar tooth. The implants used for this patient are easier to clean which is useful for the patients who have had a history of gum disease.
The bridge and crown are connected to the implants with screws. This means that they every few years, James can remove the bridge and crown easily to thoroughly clean the implants if required and then reconnect them.
The patient has been very pleased with both the natural appearance and improved quality of life that these dental implants have given him.
